Dictionary
The Dictionary holds your language’s vocabulary — words banked from the generator, or typed in by hand — along with definitions, tags, and notes.
Entries
Can do
- Every entry remembers whether it came from the Word Generator or was typed manually, plus optional free-form notes.
- An entry can genuinely have multiple senses — each with its own part of speech and definition — and it's fine for an entry to have none yet.
- Free-text search covers the term, notes, and every sense's definition and part of speech at once; you can also filter by tag, by origin (generated/manual), and by whether a word fits your syllable structures, and sort by term or by when it was created or last updated.
- Every entry is checked live against phonotactic fit — using the language’s complete set of syllable structures, regardless of which ones a word was originally generated from — and flagged if it doesn’t fit.
Limitations
- An entry has no etymology, pronunciation, or stress field, and no part-of-speech of its own — part of speech lives on each sense, not the entry.
- Two entries can't share the exact same term within one language.
- Search, filters, and sort order all reset when you navigate away from the page — nothing is remembered or shareable via a link.
Tags
Can do
- Tags are free-form labels you create per language and attach to any number of entries.
Limitations
- Tags are flat — there's no nesting, color, or description, just a name.
- Unlike a phoneme or group, a tag can be deleted while entries still use it — it's just quietly removed from anything it was attached to, with no warning.
